DEPENDANT’S PASS APPLICATION SERVICE IN SINGAPORE

Every year, many foreign professionals working in Singapore look to bring their loved ones closer. For these applicants, the Dependant’s Pass (DP) is an essential immigration pass that enables eligible family members to live together in Singapore under legal status. It covers spouses and children of Employment Pass (EP), S Pass, Personalised Employment Pass (PEP), and EntrePass holders who meet the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) requirements.

At Nala Employment, we simplify the Dependant’s Pass application process so you and your family can focus on what matters: being together. With our experience in handling immigration submissions, we help you avoid errors, reduce delays, and ensure compliance with MOM regulations while supporting both employers and families throughout the journey.

What is a Dependant’s Pass?

The Dependant’s Pass is issued by MOM to allow eligible family members of qualifying work pass holders to stay in Singapore. It is available to:

  • The legally married spouse of an EP or S Pass holder (other eligible work pass types, such as PEP or EntrePass, may also qualify)
  • Unmarried children under 21, including legally adopted children

The application must be submitted by the employer or appointed employment agent (EA) for EP and S Pass holders. For PEP and EntrePass holders, the main pass holder submits the application directly.

If the dependant does not meet the requirements for the DP, they may be eligible for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) or Short-Term Visit Pass depending on the circumstances.

What Are the Criteria to Apply for a Dependant’s Pass?

To qualify for the DP, the main work pass holder must:

  • Hold an Employment Pass, S Pass, PEP or EntrePass
  • Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least SGD 6,000 (based only on the main pass holder’s salary)
  • Be sponsored by an established, Singapore-registered company (usually the employer)

Not all EP holders can sponsor dependants. For example, certain overseas intra-corporate transferees may not be eligible.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants for a Dependant’s Pass include legally married spouses and unmarried children under 21 years of age (including legally adopted children) of Employment Pass or S Pass holders in Singapore.

  • Copy of marriage certificate, for spouse

Additional documents may be required, such as:

Our Dependant’s Pass Application Process

Nala Employment’s process is designed to make your submission smooth, compliant, and efficient.

We start by confirming eligibility and mapping out the requirements based on the main work pass holder’s status. We explain how to apply, what documents are required, and what to expect during the process.

Our team assists in preparing, organising, and checking documents, including marriage and birth certificates, vaccination records, and translations where needed.

We submit the application form and supporting documents to MOM on your behalf and pay the necessary fees.

Once submitted, we monitor the application through MOM’s systems, respond to requests for clarification, and provide timely updates.

If approved, MOM issues an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter which allows the dependant to enter Singapore. We then guide you through final issuance steps, including card collection and setting up digital access to the pass.

Working in Singapore as a Dependant’s Pass Holder

Dependant’s Pass holders are not automatically allowed to work in Singapore. To take up employment, the DP holder must apply for an appropriate pass through their prospective employer. This can be an Employment Pass, S Pass, or a Work Permit.

If the dependant wishes to run a business, they may apply for a Letter of Consent (LOC) if they meet MOM’s criteria as a DP business owner. The LOC is tied to the validity of the main pass and allows dependants to operate businesses legally while residing in Singapore.

Renewals, Validity and Cancellations

The validity of the Dependant’s Pass is always tied to the main work pass. Renewals can be submitted up to 6 months before expiry for most EP and S Pass dependants. For EntrePass or EP (Sponsorship) dependants, renewals can usually be filed up to 3 months before expiry.

If the main work pass is cancelled or not renewed, the dependant’s pass will also be cancelled. In such cases, a Short-Term Visit Pass may be requested to allow lawful stay for a short period while exit or next steps are arranged.
