What is a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) in Singapore?

The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) allows eligible family members of Employment Pass (EP) or S Pass holders to stay in Singapore for extended periods. It covers categories such as a common-law spouse, step-child, and handicapped child. Parents may also qualify if the EP or S Pass holder meets a higher salary threshold of over $12,000. The LTVP is valued by many because it enables families to live together under legal status, provides access to certain administrative benefits, and can be a stepping stone for further immigration options.

What Are the Criteria to Apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)?

Here are the main eligibility conditions:

  • The sponsor must hold a valid Employment Pass or S Pass.
  • The sponsor must earn a minimum fixed monthly salary (currently S$6,000) for spouses, common-law spouses, step-children; S$12,000 needed if applying for parents).
  • The sponsor (or employer) must be a Singapore-registered company and established.

Who Can Apply for an LTVP?

These are the family members (dependants) who can be considered:

  • Common-law spouse of an Employment Pass (EP) or S Pass holder
  • Unmarried handicapped children aged 21 or above of the Employment Pass or S Pass holder
  • Unmarried step-children under age 21
  • Parents of the Employment Pass or S Pass holder (provided the higher salary threshold is met)

The application is made by the employer or appointed employment agent on behalf of the Employment Pass or S Pass holder (the sponsor). The Employment Pass or S Pass holder sponsors the family member’s application.

Our Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) Application Process

Nala Employment’s process is designed to make your LTVP submission smooth, transparent, and efficient.

We assess your eligibility, from your pass type (EP or S Pass), salary, family relationship, to whether you meet sponsor requirements. We clarify whether you need LTVP or perhaps another pass like Dependant’s Pass.

We guide you in gathering all needed documentation, such as proof of relationship, employer details, identification, and other specific requirements. We check them for completeness and correctness before submission.

We handle the online application to MOM (or ICA if needed depending on case), submit all documents, ensure forms are properly filled out, pay fees, and more.

Once submitted, we monitor the application status, respond to any requests for further documentation or clarification, and keep you informed of progress.

Upon approval, we assist in collecting the pass, making sure your family member understands any conditions. If there is an “in-principle approval (IPA)” stage, we guide you through that too.

We pride ourselves on being highly responsive. When you engage Nala Employment, you’ll have proactive follow-ups, clear timelines, and support until your family’s LTVP is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions About Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) Application in Singapore

A Dependant’s Pass is usually granted to legally married spouses and children of EP or S Pass holders under set conditions. If you don’t meet Dependant’s Pass criteria, for example if your spouse is a common-law partner, or employer requirements differ, you may apply for an LTVP instead.

Most Long-Term Visit Pass applications are processed within about 3 weeks for dependants of Employment Pass (EP) and S Pass holders. Actual timelines may vary depending on the complexity of the case and whether further documents are requested.

If rejected, MOM will provide reasons. Nala Employment will help you assess which criteria weren’t met, help you strengthen your case and resubmit if possible.

You must renew the LTVP before it expires. MOM will review whether the eligibility still holds. It’s safe to start renewal well ahead of expiry to avoid status gap.

If you’re married to a Singapore citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR), you may be eligible to apply for the LTVP via ICA rather than MOM. Your Singapore citizen or PR spouse must act as sponsor. Also, completing the Pre-Marriage LTVP Assessment (PMLA) before marriage can improve your chances of approval and shorten processing from up to 6 months to about 6 weeks.
